Protective garments made with bio-circular materials derived from waste and residue streams, including used cooking oils and agricultural by-products, have been introduced by DuPont. By using these alternative feedstocks, the company aims to reduce reliance on virgin resources while supporting circular economy principles.

The garments are designed for cleanroom environments and provide chemical, biological, and antistatic protection. According to lifecycle assessment results, their production can reduce carbon footprint by more than 50% compared with conventional alternatives, while maintaining the same levels of protection, durability, and wearer comfort.

The improvement comes from the use of bio-circular high-density polyethylene (HDPE) produced from waste-based feedstocks through certified mass balance processes. This approach provides traceability throughout the supply chain and avoids competition with food production or agricultural land used for food crops.

The coverall is made at DuPont’s certified facility in Luxembourg, and the materials are traceable from source to finished product.

Their lightweight and breathable design also supports air circulation, moisture permeability, and ease of movement, helping maintain comfort in demanding working environments.
