Most garments are difficult to recycle because they are made from a mix of different materials. Designing products with their end of life in mind can help recover valuable materials and keep them in use for longer.

A mono-material approach to circular sportswear

RadiTex has developed a sports gilet designed to combine performance with circularity. Made entirely from nylon, the garment uses a high-tenacity polyamide yarn originally developed for demanding technical applications such as sailing and parachuting, providing strength, abrasion resistance, lightweight comfort, and UV protection.

What makes the garment different is its mono-material design. By using a single main material throughout the product, it becomes easier to recover and reuse the material once the garment reaches the end of its useful life.

Instead of becoming waste, the recovered nylon can be transformed into new raw material for high-performance technical applications. In this way, valuable resources remain in use for longer, helping reduce textile waste.

This approach extends across the product’s lifecycle, from material selection to end-of-life recovery. It can also be applied, for instance, to apparel and accessories, as well as furniture and interior textile applications, supporting more efficient material recovery and circular product design.
