Creating a virtuous circle for sustainable cosmetics
⭐ Winners⭐, Big projects in small companies (SME category), Italy
A leading project by Pink Frogs Cosmetics Srl (Italy) – Subcategory: Big projects in small companies.
With the “Circular Beauty” initiative, Pink Frogs Cosmetics is designing a virtuous circle within the cosmetics industry, aiming to give a new life to products that are often set aside due to various non-quality-related reasons. By creating sustainable supply chains, these products can be transformed into something beautiful once again.
From need to donation
The “Circular Beauty” project follows a comprehensive process that begins with identifying needs and culminates in donations. The steps include:
- Establishing contact with non-profit associations in need of personal hygiene products.
- Collaborating with suppliers in the cosmetics supply chain willing to donate surplus materials.
- Assembling all necessary materials, including bulk products, packaging, and labels, and then filling and packaging the products in their factories.
- Donating the reclaimed cosmetic products to volunteer associations for distribution through their networks.
- Restarting the cycle with the next outreach initiative.

Commitment to corporate social responsibility
This special project encompasses commitments from three key areas of Corporate Social Responsibility:
- Social Responsibility: Donations to non-profit associations.
- Environmental Responsibility: Achieving “zero waste” through the reprocessing of materials.
- Economic Responsibility: Promoting a circular economy and fostering supply chain collaboration.
Achievements and impact
Since its inception in 2021, the “Circular Beauty” initiative has involved 10 partners, including customers and suppliers, resulting in the donation of nearly 25,000 products. The project has also prevented the disposal of nearly 7 tons of cosmetic products and 1 ton of plastic packaging. By reducing emissions associated with disposal, the initiative aligns with the circular economy concept, minimising resource waste, including raw materials, energy, and water used in production.
Inspiring Broader Adoption
The goal of “Circular Beauty” is to demonstrate the feasibility of circular projects and encourage more companies to adopt similar sustainable practices. The successes of past initiatives and the willingness of suppliers to donate excess materials highlight the potential for such collaborations. These efforts not only address the issue of managing discarded products but also contribute to solving social problems that the Third Sector alone struggles to tackle.
