Daniel Witthaut appointed as Cefic’s new Executive Director Innovation
Brussels, 15 September 2021 – We are pleased to announce that Daniel Witthaut joins Cefic as the new Executive Director for the Innovation team. As a secondee from Evonik AG, Daniel brings 20 years of professional experience in innovation, strategy, and new business development functions in different areas of the chemical industry.
Commenting on the appointment, Daniel said:
“The European chemical industry is buzzing with technologies that provide potential solutions for making the EU Green Deal a reality. Many companies are committed and are already investing heavily in these vital low-carbon footprint and circular technologies. It’s very exciting to join Cefic and lead the Innovation department at this crucial point as the future of our sector as well as making the EU Green Deal a reality largely depends on how we upscale and leverage these technologies.“
Daniel holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry as well as a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Chicago. Since 2001 he has held various roles in Germany, Singapore, and China within Evonik AG and recently as Head of Portfolio and Processes for Research, Development & Innovation.
