The Carbon Managers: Modelling Possible Pathways for the EU Chemical Sector’s Transition Towards Climate Neutrality and Circularity with IC2050

December 9th 2024 1:00 pm
Residence Palace, Rue de la Loi 155, 1040 Brussels

Overview

As part of our ongoing efforts to support the clean and digital transition of the chemical sector, Cefic has launched a major project to model the sector’s journey towards climate neutrality and circularity. The iC2050 model is a unique tool designed to outline and demonstrate feasible pathways towards this goal. It generates scenarios to help identify cost-effective strategies for reducing emissions and informs chemical companies’ strategies within a broader sectoral context.

This project, initiated a few years ago, is now reaching a critical milestone. On December 9th, Cefic will unveil an extensive report that presents our findings through a detailed Base Case scenario, followed by a series of sensitivity analyses exploring different levels of ambition and enabling frameworks.

During this event, you will hear about:

  • Key technologies and abatement solutions for the chemical sector to become climate-neutral and circular
  • The important role that carbon plays in our value chains and how the industry is working to ensure its sustainable use
  • Key enablers for the transformation of chemical value chains
