Following the EU elections that took place on 6–9 June 2024, Europe is now set to move forward with newly-elected leaders from the European Parliament who will play a role in shaping future EU policies. The election results have set the stage for a new EU institutional cycle, with key appointments made, and the attribution of key roles within the European Parliament.

Following the re-election of Ursula von der Leyen as Commission President in July, the next political milestone will be the selection of the new Commissioners and the appointment of the new European Commission. The newly elected Commission President is in discussions with Member States Governments, while the European Parliament will need to confirm the Commissioners designates during the confirmation hearings. These developments will have implications for the chemicals industry, potentially influencing regulatory frameworks, market trends, and innovation pathways.

We invite you to join Marco Mensink, Cefic Director General, and Camilla Martelli, Cefic Executive Director Public Affairs, in this essential discussion to:

  • Understand the latest state of play, following the EU elections.
  • Discover the next steps and policy directions that will be prioritised in the coming year.
  • Analyse how the new EU institutional cycle order might affect the EU’s decision-making process and the chemicals industry.

Don’t miss this opportunity to stay informed about the evolving political landscape and its potential effects on the industry as we navigate the new EU legislative cycle.
