Digital Dialogue – Free trade agreements: Are they the urgent boost needed for Europe’s chemical industry?

November 7-7, 2023
Online

In an increasingly volatile and ambiguous world, European industry’s competitiveness is at stake. High energy prices, raw material dependencies, declining market shares, are just some of the challenges facing our economy. As an important supplier for almost all value chains in the European economy, the health of the European chemical sector is key for the whole European industry.

As an export-oriented industry, free, fair and sustainable trade is key for us. And Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) are essential to open the doors to new global markets, while also securing access to critical materials and reducing our critical dependencies.

The question is how to best leverage the potential of FTAs to strengthen the EU industry’s competitiveness?

In this dialogue, we bring together the various perspectives to discuss:

• The state of play of FTAs – which agreements are under discussion and how can they support industry competitiveness?
• How can FTAs enhance global market access for European products, which provisions need to be included?
• How can FTAs help to secure access to key raw materials and energy carriers?

Join us for this urgent debate, as we discuss how trade agreements can help boost EU industry competitiveness.
