Policy Horizon – The Environmental Omnibus Package: What it means for the EU Chemical Industry and the road ahead

On 10 December 2025, the Commission published its Environmental Omnibus Package. The Package identifies several areas where the Commission believes simplification can reduce delays, increase predictability, and address concerns raised by industry and Member States in the past. These include industrial emissions and permitting, the circular economy and waste, environmental assessments and other areas. The Commission estimates annual cost savings of around EUR 1 billion. Additional gains from accelerated environmental assessments are expected to support projects worth at least EUR 30 billion per year.
