A leading initiative by France Chimie.
France Chimie has launched a support program dedicated to chemical manufacturers, aimed at helping them control their water usage and implement measures to enhance the water efficiency of their facilities through long-term initiatives designed to reduce water withdrawals. This program is being led with technical assistance from consultant Aquassay and financial support from the Seine Normandy Water Agency.
The program comprises three major actions
1. Raising awareness among operators about water-related issues
In 2022 and 2023, several webinars have been organised for France Chimie members, with approximately 100 participants. These webinars featured presentations on water-related concerns and actions taken by local authorities in Normandy and Hauts de France. Additionally, there were presentations on potential financial support provided by the Water Agency of Rhin Meuse.
2. Development of a self-assessment tool to identify water-related issues at each site and assess the level of expertise in water management.
This tool also aids in prioritising actions to improve water management on-site. The self-assessment tool was shared with France Chimie members in March 2023. See a video presentation of the self-assessment tool.
3. Creation of a practical water management guide to offer tangible solutions.
This guide is pragmatic, concise, and highly practical. Its objective is to increase companies’ awareness of water-related concerns and the numerous benefits of improved water management at their facilities. It provides solutions for various measures that can be implemented to enhance water management. The guide has beento be finalised and shared with members in July 2023. The guide consists of:
- Main content covering water issues and principles of water efficiency.
- Method sheets (e.g., water cost, flow analysis, recycling, use of non-conventional water sources, etc.).
- Case study sheets detailing specific site situations and how they were managed.
