In 2022, Polisan Kimya inaugurated a LEED-compliant, Industry 4.0 resin facility. This site produces low-emission resins adhering to Green Chemistry principles. Beyond the new facility, by leveraging digital technologies, the aim is to enhance efficiency, prioritise safety, and minimise the environmental footprint of their operations.

responsibleCareAwards2024-Combining digital innovation with sustainability

Improving processes with digital solutions

The energy management and remote monitoring system at the Dilovası facility, encompasses 123 meters tracking resources such as electricity, water, wastewater, natural gas, nitrogen, steam, seawater, air, and well water. This system facilitates real-time data analysis and improves operational oversight.

The adoption of SAP4HANA cloud-based systems has reduced physical infrastructure needs, improving data security and energy savings.

Robotic Process Automation (RPA) developments are being implemented across various processes within the company, automating routine tasks, allowing employees to focus on strategic activities, and reducing error rates.

Mitigating the environmental impact

Starting from the R&D phase, the company adheres to Green Chemistry principles aimed to reduce or eliminate hazardous chemicals throughout product life cycles. For instance, its R&D initiatives promote bio-based and low-VOC emission resins, contributing to healthier environments and resource conservation. Structural chemical additives help its customers lower energy use and carbon emissions.

The new resin plant, operational since 2022, is constructed in accordance with LEED standards (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). Emphasising resource conservation and creating healthy and comfortable work environments, the facility utilises low-impact, non-hazardous materials indoors.

Achievements

The new resin plant features cooling and heating systems yielding 15-20% efficiency improvements and over 26% energy savings. Additionally, water-efficient fixtures and rainwater recycling contribute to over 40% water savings. Inline and online quality control systems have shortened product cycle times by 10%.

Beyond the new facility, Polisan Kimya leverages digital solutions like big data analytics to better evaluate process outputs, ensuring stable, high-quality production. Across its operations, adopting advanced energy management, SAP4HANA cloud systems, and RPA reduces environmental impact, optimises resources, and enhances efficiency. These efforts reflect Polisan Kimya’s strategy to combine sustainability and technology, benefiting both the company and its clients.
