A Collaborative Initiative

The Women in Logistics Consortium is an initiative born from a strategic partnership with Dow’s logistics partner, H.Essers. As part of their commitment to diversity and growth, they embarked on a journey to create meaningful change within the industry. Through collaborative discussions, the vision was extended beyond H.Essers, joining forces with other logistics service providers, chemical producers including the European Chemical Transport Association (ECTA) and later Cefic. The result? A powerful ecosystem dedicated to advancing gender balance in logistics.

Objectives

  • Gender Equity: The primary objective is to achieve gender equity within European logistics. The Consortium aims to break down barriers and create equal opportunities for all professionals, regardless of gender.
  • Ecosystem Building: The Consortium serves as a platform that unites logistics service providers, chemical producers, and industry associations. Together, they advocate for change and foster an inclusive environment.

Expected Outcomes

The Women in Logistics Consortium’s formation itself is a significant achievement, uniting companies and associations from logistics and chemical producers. The project exemplifies “coopetition”—a powerful collaboration that transcends competition. The Consortium also engages executive leadership, igniting change from the highest echelons.

  • Increased Representation: By actively promoting diversity, the Consortium anticipates an increase in female representation across logistics roles—from drivers and operators to leadership positions.
  • Cultural Shift: These efforts will contribute to a cultural shift within the industry, where gender equality becomes the norm rather than the exception.
  • Policy outreach: Through advocacy, the group aims to reach out to policymakers across the EU, ensuring that gender equity remains a priority.

By focusing on leadership, drivers, and operators, the initiative aims to drive meaningful change and create a more diverse and inclusive industry landscape. Through collaborative efforts and ongoing engagement, Women in Logistics is committed to advancing gender equity and empowering women across all levels of the logistics sector.
