As part of a sustainability strategy at ADLER, the “ADLER green” project was launched in 2016, creating a range of environmentally friendly and sustainable coatings for all areas of application. All “ADLER green ”products are subjected to an intensive internal certification process, the results of which are communicated transparently. The products are tested according to the “environment”, “health and safety” and “product performance” criteria.

The “ADLER green” products have a high proportion of renewable raw materials and a low volatile organic compound (VOC) content, can be processed without risks to safety and health, and are free of components that are hazardous to health or allergenic. In addition, the products are of very high quality and guarantee reliable and durable protection for the surface, so that the service life of the coated workpiece (e.g. furniture, windows, wooden facade) is extended. This is another way in which the coatings contribute to sustainability and material efficiency.

Numerous “ADLER green” products have also been awarded the “Cradle to Cradle” circular economy certificate. “Cradle to Cradle” stands for a holistic approach to sustainability and considers the entire product life cycle. Cradle to Cradle” products are designed in such a way that they can be returned to the biological or technical cycle at the end of their life cycle. This means, for example, the possibility of recycling wooden elements coated with ADLER products into wood-based materials, such as particleboards or into insulation material. ADLER is thus the first coatings manufacturer in Europe to offer “Cradle to Cradle” certified products.
