Industry sectors and Cefic sector groups
Cefic addresses the full spectrum of the chemical industry’s interests, including specific market’ concerns. These are handeled by Cefic’s three industry sectors representing close to 80 sector groups, which operate in the framework of the Association’s general policies and comply with its statutes, operating rules and governance rules.
All Cefic sector groups are registered in the EU Transparency Register, jointly operated by the European Parliament and the European Commission, under Cefic’s transparency register n°64879142323-90.
Specialty chemicals
Specialty chemicals are instrumental in improving our quality of life, health and wellbeing, today and in the future.
The products created and produced by ‘Specialty Chemicals’ member companies, many of which are small and medium enterprises, stem from original and continuous innovation. They drive the low-carbon, resource-efficient and knowledge- based economy of the future.
Specialty chemicals represents, within Cefic, over 50 sectors of the European fine and consumer chemicals industry.

Petrochemicals Europe
Petrochemicals Europe is an industry sector of Cefic, representing about 70 member companies (including affiliated members) with a turnover of €155 bn. Deriving from petroleum or natural gas, petrochemicals are an essential part of the chemical industry. They are used in the fields of health, hygiene, housing and food, to name but a few of their thousands of applications for everyday commodities. Petrochemicals Europe represents, within Cefic, around 17 sectors groups.

Halogens
Halogens supports a safe, sustainable and successful industry for Europe. A unique cluster of well-defined and studied inorganic basic chemicals, they are used downstream by business-to-business (b2b) customers as an essential building block for the manufacture of a multitude of products that we rely on every day. Across Europe, millions of jobs are dependent on the availability of competitively priced supplies.
They are also vital for the development of the innovative materials we will need in the future.
