Digital spray drying facilitates the intake of complex medication

Our body is made up of 70% of water. To ensure the medication kicks in faster and functions better when administered, its ability to dissolve in water is crucial. New medication is needed to tackle ever more complex illnesses. Innovation is needed to ensure the medication can keep the pace.

Janssen Pharmaceutica, a Belgian pharmaceutical company has developed a method which allows the body to absorb medication a lot more efficiently: Digital spray drying.

Digital what now?

Spray drying is an industrial method used to turn liquid into a powder form. This technology makes it possible to improve the uptake in the body of poorly soluble medication. Digital spray drying is when digital design tools are used alongside the spray drying process to measure its effectiveness.

Where else can this technology be applied?

Spray drying processes serve many formulated products industries such as food (milk powder, coffee, infant formula), pharmaceuticals (spray dried dispersions, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients) and consumer goods (detergents).
