Total and PureCycle Technologies Form a Strategic Partnership
Dissolution: extracting plastic, TOTAL
New perspectives for addressing the challenge of the circular economy by Total
Total is strongly committed to plastic recycling and intends to produce 30% recycled polymers by 2030. To achieve that goal, Total is developing mechanical and advanced recycling, including dissolution to propose high quality products from a broad range of waste feedstocks.
See how PureCycle Technologies is closing the loop on the plastics end-of-life challenge with our ultra-pure recycled polypropylene. One goal: a pure planet.
Following the acquisition of Synova (PP recyclates for the automotive sector), Total has taken another step forward in the production of high-end recycled polypropylene by forging a new strategic partnership with PureCycle Technologies.
As part of the agreement, Total undertakes to purchase part of the output of PureCycle Technologies’ future facility in the USA and assess the interest of developing a new plant together in Europe. The company, which will begin construction on its first plant in Ohio (USA) this year, will produce 48,000 tons of recycled polypropylene, targeting demanding requirements such as food contact.
