Endocrine Disruption

Endocrine disruption has become a significant focus of environmental science and medicine in the last few years. Cefic is taking part in bringing clarity to the issue and helping to assess any potential risks associated with endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDC).

Many substances, natural or man-made, are known to mimic the action of hormones. The question is whether some of these substances might interfere with the endocrine system, potentially leading to adverse effects on human health or the environment.

The chemical industry is taking an active role in bringing clarity and understanding to this issue through research. We are committed to act upon the results of this research as required, in an appropriate and timely fashion.
